Early Life and Education
Born in Tugbaken, Maryland County, Liberia, Saydee is the second-oldest of nine children. His early life was profoundly shaped by Liberia’s fifteen-year civil war, a conflict that affected education, family, and community life. Despite these challenges, Saydee became the first in his family to earn a high school diploma, laying the foundation for a lifetime of resilience and achievement.
After high school, Saydee traveled to the United States through a cultural exchange program in Chicago, Illinois, and chose to remain there. For over 15 years without legal status, he could not formally attend college or work. During this period, he pursued his passion for art and design, teaching himself graphic design using CorelDRAW and creating works that gained recognition from Liberian community organizations and cultural festivals.
Entrepreneurial Journey
In 2003, Saydee launched Creative Special Tech, a home-based business offering computer repair, digital design, and creative services. Between 2005 and 2007, he volunteered at the Liberian Consulate in Chicago while producing custom designs and apparel. After obtaining U.S. citizenship in 2010, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Networking & Communications Management from DeVry University in 2014, combining technical expertise with his entrepreneurial vision.
Today, his company, Libspot & Companies, provides IT support, web development, digital design, and brand consulting to individuals, businesses, and African communities worldwide. Through Libspot.com, Saydee promotes Liberia’s hotels, resorts, beaches, cultural sites, and local businesses, making the country’s rich culture and tourism sector accessible to a global audience.
Professional and Community Work
Saydee has worked in various IT support roles, including positions with Aspire Chicago, Midtown, and NTT Data (supporting Loyola Medical IT). He currently serves as an IT Support Analyst with United Airlines, applying his technical expertise to complex IT systems while continuing to run his entrepreneurial ventures.
In addition to business, Saydee is deeply committed to community development. He regularly provides free or low-cost IT and design services to empower startups, nonprofits, and diaspora initiatives. His mentorship and consulting help Liberian entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses and promote Liberia’s tourism and culture globally.
